Blue Marlin from Capt. Stuart Simpson

Kenya – We are getting excellent reports out of both Watamu and Malindi. One of the things Kenya has always been known for is variety and they are seeing Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish and Swordfish as well. That variety had lead to a number of Grand Slams including one on Neptune (Blue, Striped, Sail) and another on Unreel (Blue, Striped, Sail). Most boats are seeing at least 2-4 Blue Marlin a day, 2-3 Sailfish and 1-2 Striped Marlin. Those who are targeting Swordfish at night are likewise getting 1-2 shots with Soolyman in Malindi producing multiple successful trips.

Like all fisheries, Kenya has their up and down seasons, but it appears 2015-16 may be one of those special seasons. For anglers looking to get their first Grand Slam or even Super Grand Slam, this is the perfect time to do it with the right current and water temps. Here are some other recent reports.

  • Capt. Stuart Simpson on Jasiri went 2-4 on Blue Marlin and 1-2 on Sailfish.
  • Neptune went 2-4 on Blue Marlin and 3-6 on Sailfish.
  • Soolyman released a Blue Marlin and a Swordfish
  • Snark released 2 Blue Marlin
