Bermuda – After a good mid-summer bite that included 3 Grander Blue Marlin, Bermuda has been quiet. Today however, we got two reports that reminded us that Bermuda is still ALIVE in August.
Brent Slade fishing on the Chaos was 2-4 on Blue Marlin and saw a HUGE fish, that will doubt haunt him. Capt. Alan Card on the Challenger was 1-2 on blues as well. Brent sent us the boat side shots.

We also fished Aug. 6th in Bermuda aboard the Overproof with Capt. Peter Rans as part of our annual USA v RSA International Billfish Test. No hook ups on Fri, but we raised a blue Peter called 600-700 lbs and another 150-200 lbs. fish. Hurricane Colin blew out fishing Sat. and Sun., but Paul Verheul of the South African team and I stayed an extra day to fish Mon. Aug. 9th. We had two strikes midday and then I released a 150 lbs. blue. Fifteeen minutes later a fish in the 500 lbs. range skyrocketed the left short, but missed. Ten minutes after that, Paul hooked up and released another 150 lbs. blue. After losing the trophies to the South Africans last year in Guatemala and the year before in Costa Rica, we brought the hardware home to the U.S. based on first fish released. We went to Bermuda this year for the big girls and they were sure there. Peter was a pleasure to fish with.
