The richest fishing in the world begins on Friday, with Los Cabos kicking off on Saturday with the two-day tournament leading up to the 20-22 October Black and Blue.

Last year’s Los Cabos saw 53 boats vying for about $275K in prize money, catching 41 bills…overshadowed by Black and Blue’s 94 boats and $2MM in prize money (71 billfish).  The bite at East Cape this year was strong – 117 bills caught in the four days of fishing.

And in case you’re interested, there are plenty of blues and blacks around.  Sounds like the rumor the 1200 pounder last week was just that – a rumor – but good numbers of marlin are showing up on the Sea of Cortez side, mostly in the 300-pound class.  Some striped marlin are also around.
