Morehead City, NC – It should be no surprise that Citation’s 883 lbs Blue Marlin, a tournament record, held on to win 1st Place in this years Big Rock tournament. Three fish weighed in this year with Carnivore weighing a 528 and Wet-N-Wild weighing a 460.
Fishing was slow all things considered though. There were 156 boats entered into the tournament with a estimated pay-out of $1.7 Million. The top three release boats, all scored 2 Blue Marlin for the tournament, but many boats did not release a billfish at all. Still, this is The Big Rock, one of our favorite tournaments as it involves some of the finest captain the U.S. has to offer. The tradition is one of the richest in the sport and were are not talking about the purse.

Hold tight. This one may not count. Citation’s fish is under review.
Blue’Phoria
Looks like the mate neglected to obtain a NC fishing license. $15, small price to pay to be legal in a million dollar tourney!!! OUCH!!!
Pretty Work
“All those dreams going up in smoke”? I think so! A rule is a rule and should be enforced in the tournaments. “Carnivore” deserves to win it if they were legal on their fish. Just my .02
