October 500+ Club – As is usual, this time of year, the Giant Black Marlin run of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia has dominated our reports for Billfish over 500 lbs. This is not to say other fisheries did not have a good showing however, with Bazaruto,  Mozambique releasing 8 Black Marlin and 2 Blue Marlin. We had a total of 59 Black Marlin over the the 500 lbs mark and 14 Blue Marlin. Of those 59, an impressive 50 came from Northern Queensland. What is perhaps even more impressive is of those 50, twelve (12) were over 1,000 lbs. That is right, 12 Grander Black Marlin in October alone!

Top Boat for October was Captain Billy Billson and Randy Baker on Viking II who caught 9 Black Marlin over 500 lbs, including 3 Granders and a 950!

Capt. Dean Beach on the Maverick is also having a great season with two (2) over the 1,000 lbs mark and another they called 950.

Our guess is November should be another great month on the Great Barrier Reef, so stay tuned!
