For those of you are who are more dedicated followers, you will remember that the October 2013 was one of the finest on record for large Marlin with 122 Marlin reported to us (103 Black Marlin, 19 Blue Marlin). While still a month to remember, October 2014 has taken the top spot with 136 –  500+ Marlin reported to us comprised of 118 Black Marlin and 18 Blue Marlin. From those 118 Black Marlin, fourteen (14) of those were Granders (1,000+ lbs). Surprisingly, that was the one statistic that did not beat out October 2013, where we had twenty (20) Grander Black Marlin reported to us.

Obviously boats fishing off Australia’s Great Barrier Reef dominated, accounting for 85% of all 500+ Marlin caught in the World, easily taking out Top Fishery of October. Our Top Boat was Little Audrey Captained by Daniel Carlson, who reported fourteen (14) Black Marlin to us over 500 lbs. including five (5) over 900 lbs. Capt. Tim Richardson on Tradition had a great month releasing eleven (11) over 500 lbs. including two (2) Granders. Capt. Ross Finlayson on Top Shot also put up impressive numbers releasing ten (10) Black Marlin over 500 lbs. including three (3) Granders.

November should prove to be a good one as well, with five (5) Granders reported to us already.
