It is almost as if they have a Tournament Calendar. The White Marlin have shown in great numbers and the timing could not be more perfect with the upcoming White Marlin Open. Not only is it the largest White Marlin Tournament in the World, it is one of the largest tournaments in our sport and now expectations may be even higher than normal. Boats from New Jersey to Maryland have been seeing consistent double digit White Marlin days with Billfisher (out of Ocean City) having the best day of the season going 20-26. Other Ocean City boats putting up impressive white marlin numbers was Viking 72 going 17-23, Makara with 16 and Espadon with 14. A little farther north but fishing the same waters, Marlin Hunter out of Cape May went 12-15 on White Marlin.

August is typically the best month for White Marlin in these waters, so we can only hope this is a positive sign for their condensed season.
