U.S. Mid-Atlantic – The annual migration of White Marlin down the East Coast of the United States has begun. Double Digit White Marlin are being caught offshore from New Jersey to North Carolina. For some, the body of fish is well offshore, but the results are worth it. The best day we have heard of on White Marlin is off Virginia Beach by Capt. Randy Butler on Rebel, releasing 31 in a Day. Right up there in stratospheric numbers was Guided Discovery (Cape May, NJ) with 30 White Marlin, Canyon Lady (Cape May, NJ) releasing 29 White Marlin and Big Oh (Pirates Cove, NC) with 26.
While White Marlin are the main course, but there have been plenty of Blue Marlin and even some Sailfish coming into the spread. We had a Grand Slam released by Capt. Ronnie Fields on Big Oh (6 White Marlin, 2 Spearfish, Blue Marlin) and the first Fantasy Slam released by Capt. Kyle Peet & Eric Mateer on No Quarter out of Ocean City, MD. They released 17 White Marlin, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Spearfish and a 345 lbs. Swordfish on the Day. They added 6 six (6) more White Marlin the next morning to give them 23 White Marlin on an overnight trip.
We can tell you from reports coming in already today the bite is still on. This is one of those bites that comes on strong and leaves just as fast, so best to book as soon as possible if you want to get in on the action.
