Exmouth, Western Australia – With so much focus in the East Coast of Australia, Western Australia does not get credit for some of its excellent fishing. The waters off Exmouth are home to Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, Striped Marlin and Sailfish in abundance. Unlike there brethren in Queensland, this is a year round fishery as well. While it is not known for big fish, just yesterday the new state record Black Marlin was weighed in at 651 lbs. by Tails Up.

There is a very good charter fleet with the majority of our reports coming from Peak Sportfishing and On Strike Charters. While Billfish is obviously what we focus on, an abundance of other inshore and offshore species are caught here. We are in the heart of the Blue Marlin season with many boats targeting them, but there are still Black Marlin and even Striped Marlin mixed in the bunch. Seems like after catching some big Black Marlin on the Great Barrier Reef, Billfish addicts should be grabbing a flight over to the West Coast to keep the party going.
