The Billfish Report is counting down its Top 10 Billfisheries of the Year, with an Honorable Mention to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Criteria for our Top 10 include fish numbers, variety of billfish species, average size of fish, length of season and number of boats fishing. With over 11,000 Billfish Reports submitted to us in 2015 from around the World, to even be considered for our Top 10 makes a fishery one of the best!

From the Pacific to the Sea of Cortez, the waters at the tip of Baja are teeming with gamefish of all sorts, but the Striped Marlin fishery makes it special. Without a doubt, this fishery is the year in year out best place in the world to target Striped Marlin with double digits a real possibility, with the Top Day coming from Team Galati with fifteen (15). While there are plenty of Blue Marlin in these waters, this fishery is not known for large fish but they did produce six (6) Blue Marlin over 500 lbs. with the largest Blue Marlin coming off Mucho Loco (773 lbs).

Cabo has a true year round fishery with marlin caught in every month of the year. The summer and fall bring warmer waters and with it, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin and Sailfish. This great variety lead to a Super Grand Slam on Bad Medicine (Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin & Sailfish) as well as Grand Slams on Sea Angel, Team Galati and Expedition.
