Brazil's Blue Marlin

Brazilian Blue about to air it out

Canavieiras, Brazil – Fishing this season on the Royal Charlotte Bank did not measure up to years past. For a famed area and for that matter, country, Brazil’s fertile waters have not measured up. Cabo Frio, which brought us the current All-Tackle world record blue marlin produced so few fish this year, we barely covered the tournaments. The water temp oddly enough was blamed mostly, with very little bait. But, in these water you keep fishing and eventually you’ll find them.

Capt. Shawn Wallace on the Camargue is proving that the fish are there, but just a little farther north. While he will admit that this has not been classic Brazilian fishing thus far, he is finally starting to see numbers worth bragging about. Over the last couple of week, he has been averaging 3-4 raises a day and these are not small fish. Biggest he has seen recently went around 800 lbs. In the last two weeks he hasreleased some nice fish including 5 over 500 lbs and 2 over 600 lbs. Mix those in with the smaller 200 lbers blues and some sailfish a that is some really good fishing.

Nice Blue about to be released
