April was an unusually slow month for the big girls. For that matter, 2013 has been fairly slow, especially on Granders with only 3 Caught this year, by comparison we had 8 Granders by the end of April in 2012. There is nothing to really read into that, but an interesting statistic.
We had forty-three (43) Billfish reported to us in April of 2013, with forty (40) Blue Marlin, two (2) Swordfish and one (1) Black Marlin. Probably the highlight for April was the two big Swords as they seem to be the rare catch or at least not reported to us. The Cape Verdes was our Top Fishery for April with fourteen (14) Blue Marlin over 500 lbs reported to us. Kona, HI was our next best fishery with twelve (12) Blue Marlin over the 500 lbs. mark.
Our largest fish came from Capt. Kevin Nakamura on Northern Lights for his 921 lbs. Blue Marlin (Northern Lights released 3 for the Month). Our most productive boat was the Big Oh fishing over in the Cape Verdes, with four (4) Blue Marlin over 500 lbs.
We are looking forward to May, which historically has been a great month for big fish across the the Globe!
