October 500+ Club

After a September to remember in the Azores on Blue Marlin, we knew all eyes would be on Cairns, Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. Before we get into the numbers for the boys in Australia though, we should mention we did have nice (9) 500+ Blue Marlin reported to us, seven (7) from Hawaii and two (2) from Mexico.

Now, for the main event. We had sixty-seven (67) Black Marlin reported to us over 500 lbs in the month of August. Sad thing is, we know we must have missed a bunch as we don’t get reports from every boat out there. Of those sixty-seven, all but seven (7) came to us from the Great Barrier Reef. No surprise to those who follow us, that all other fish were reported from Bazaruto, Mozambique

We had 11 Grander Black Marlin reported in October, for a total of 14 for the season thus far. Despite these impressive numbers, they are actually below 2010 for Granders in October.

Castille III had the most 500+ Black Marlin reported to us in October, with 7 total fish. Our guess is they and many other boats caught many more fish over 500 lbs, but a of times the boys don’t start to report them until they are over 700 lbs.
