New Alabama Blue Marlin State Record for Reel Fire (845 lbs)

Gulf Shores, Alabama РThe 24-Year Blue Marlin record fell this evening, not once but twice. While fishing in the Blue Marlin Grand Championship we were blown away when Rising Sons weighed a 789 lbs. Blue Marlin, setting the new Alabama State Record. Less than an hour later, Reel Fire proved lightning does strike twice, weighing the new Alabama State Record with an 845 lbs. Blue Marlin.

There were at least two other boats that boated Blue Marlin in this tournament, but have not weighed those fish in, choosing to keep fishing as the grounds are well offshore. This was the first day of this tournament, so there is plenty of fishing ahead. Congratulations to the Reel Fire and to Rising Sons for making this a memorable day to say the least!

We will of course keep you updated here at the Billfish Report.
