Lizard Island, Australia – An incredible week of fishing at the prestigious and 23rd annual Lizard Island Gamefish Club Black Marlin Classic.   125 Black Marlin caught over seven days on 26 boats – simply incredible results.  What’s more – TEN GRANDERS caught in the tournament, with Capt. Barry Cross, on the Joe Joe, picking up TWO.

We think unless otherwise proven wrong, that this HAS to be the most large marlin Black or Blue ever caught in the WORLD. Madeira has produced some great results, but we are not sure how you beat this.

The top 5:

1.  Mauna Kea – 11 (notables 950, 800)

2.  Spartacus – 9 (notables 850, 800)

3.  Joe Joe – 8 (notables 1100, 1100)

4.  Viking II – 8 (notables 1000, 600)

5.  Hart Throb – 8 (notables 950, 800)

And here’s some iPhone video of the tournament’s largest fish, a 1200-pounder on the Kekoa…

Incredible!
