How did you catch that?

Spearfishing Black Marlin

While most would consider catching a Billfish from a more traditional sportsfishing boat, an accomplishment, there are always the thrill seekers out there. Some will call them crazy, we just call them “brave”. While we are not promoting ANY killing of any Billfish, you still have to be impressed with some of these catches. From a KayakJet Ski or just some open water Spearfishing, these guys are wearing “parachute pants” when back on land.

Probably the most common offshore place we know of is off of Baja in Mexico. These guys routinely catch tuna, dorado and wahoo and of course Striped Marlin.

We know this is not the only Jet Ski caught Blue Marlin, but this Kona caught fish was over 400 lbs. This is not the first Blue Marlin for this Hawaii native either.

Still, despite all of the other ways we have seen guys fishing marlin, our favorite comes out of New Zealand. This is one of the few places in the world where marlin can be caught from shore. They routinely catch both black and striped marlin on live bait.
