July 500+ Club Round Up

500+-Club-1024x566

July proved to be a good month, but still a little slow when compared to 2013.  We don’t want to blame one fishery, but Bermuda was the culprit when comparing 2013 to 2014. We still managed sixty-three (63) Marlin reported to us over 500 lbs, with sixty-one (61) of those being Blue Marlin and two (2) of those were Black Marlin, both in Broome, Australia. Our top Fishery was Kona, Hawaii with fourteen (14) Blue Marlin reported to us over 500 lbs. Bermuda was 2nd with twelve (12) fish reported to us. We did have two Granders added to our list in July, courtesy of Mike Schmidt in Fiji and Blue Quest in Mauritius.

We had a three way tie  for Top Boat of July with Happy Hooker II in the Cape Verdes and Rigel IV in the Canary Islands and Mako in Bermuda all releasing three (3) fish over 500 lbs. It should be noted that Rigel IV released all three of their fish in a single day, making it one of the best days we heard of in July.

August has historically been the BEST month for Blue Marlin globally as both the Atlantic and the Pacific are usually firing by then. We should expect the Azores to star their domination here shortly.
