Not something you see very often – a couple of black marlin behind the boat. This is from the back of the Tradition, wit Capt. Tim Richardson. Appears to be a smaller male following the larger female that is hooked up.

Boats are seeing a consistent and pretty decent bite in the runup to Bisbee’s…for example, today the Picante fleet saw what was a pretty typical day for Cabo these days – three boats saw, in aggregate, two blues, six stripeys, and three sails. (No slams – the sails didn’t mix with the blues and stripeys today). There are definitely blacks…
Ross Finlayson’s Top Shot saw about as great a day as you’ll ever see on the Great Barrier Reef yesterday, with seven black marlin bites all told…and six fish released. No fish of great size – the largest fish went 350 – but there won’t be many days on the reef this year that top this one for numbers. Pictures…
A pretty terrific season in the Azores this year, with by our count some 23 blue marlin released over 500 pounds in the month of September alone. They also released a 500 lber in the same trip. That makes two 950+ Black Marlin on the reef thus far this season. Thanks very much to Black Marlin Blog for letting…
St Thomas, USVI – We got this video from a great underwater photographer named Marc Montoccohio. We have been posting a lot of videos lately, but hey, these have been pretty awesome. Marc made sure to let me know that the quality of the video had to be drastically reduced for a quick post on the internet. The finished product will…
– The bite continues to be excellent on the North Drop. Here is a great video off the boat Fa-La-Me St. Thomas, USVI
Some interesting times lately in the billfish world, with some fisheries seeing some unusually weak results, some seeing huge numbers but no boats, and others continuing the patterns they’ve historically seen. As a result we’re having a go on whether you should buy, sell, or hold a billfishery stock… HOLD Kona. Fishery had a slow June/July, but has picked up…
