Bisbee’s week begins Friday!

The richest fishing in the world begins on Friday, with Los Cabos kicking off on Saturday with the two-day tournament leading up to the 20-22 October Black and Blue. Last year’s Los Cabos saw 53 boats vying for about $275K in prize money, catching 41 bills…overshadowed by Black and Blue’s 94 boats and $2MM in prize money (71 billfish).  The…

Yet another Australian honorable mention…

Captain Billy Billson on the Viking II today released a 950+ – certainly not the first time this fishery’s seen a fish they conservatively called 950, and certainly not the last.  One hour fight.  Pictures when we get them..

Bazaruto Black Marlin

Bazaruto Black Marlin

Bazaruto, Mozambique – We got a good report to the start of the season for Capt. Duarte Rato. On six days fishing, they raised 13 Black Marlin with 6 Hook-Ups. First fish of the season was a beast though at an estimated 900 lbs. After fours hours of fighting the fish, it chewed through their 650 lbs leaded.  Not all…

Top Shot nabs six black marlin – in a day – on the Reef…

Ross Finlayson’s Top Shot saw about as great a day as you’ll ever see on the Great Barrier Reef yesterday, with seven black marlin bites all told…and six fish released.  No fish of great size – the largest fish went 350 – but there won’t be many days on the reef this year that top this one for numbers.  Pictures…

Azores season wrapping up…

A pretty terrific season in the Azores this year, with by our count some 23 blue marlin released over 500 pounds in the month of September alone.  No fish cleared the mark – many came close, with at least two 900+ fish…but all told a pretty phenomenal season, and a pity to see it end.  In fact, one could argue…
