Justin Roper with Makaira Fishing Lures shares a report of a beached marlin in Lousiana – a stark reminder to what might be the aftereffects of the spill from last year. Fish apparently weighed about 150 pounds, no trauma, apparently recently dead.
Key West, FL – Difficult Sailfish weather (flat calm) was to blame for lower than normal catches in this years Tournament. Despite these conditions, Capt. Guatemala – Most people’s immediate reaction when you say Guatemala is sailfish and why not. However, Guatemala gets a good blue marlin bite as well. Reporting will begin on April 12 from Key West, site of the World Sailfish Championships. Last year saw 75 teams competing for $1,000,000 in prize money. Fishing begins on Wednesday, continuing on Thursday, last day Saturday. More coming up!
